B is for Boilerplate

In this Instagram reel, I talk about what boilerplate provisions are.

Boilerplate provisions are standard parts of every contract. They’re normally included at the end, and they’re normally written uniformly (and steeped in legalese). This is by design, because courts are known to accept the current language as-is, making it difficult to rewrite the verbiage in more plain language.

Even though they’re hard to understand, boilerplate provisions are super important to have in your contract. I’m going to be covering many boilerplate sections in future ABC episodes (and already covered one — alternative dispute resolutions — in the video for A).

Have a question about a boilerplate section? Let me know in the comments and maybe I’ll feature that section in a future video!
